Description
Morro Bay is a watercolor painting by the artist Irina Sztukowski.
Morro Bay is a little waterfront town in San Luis Obispo County, California. It obtained the name Morro after a massive monolith that is seen from every point of the city, a monumental Morro Rock.
The town of Morro Bay was founded by Franklin Riley in 1870 as a port. It was thriving with the export of dairy and ranch products. But since the beginning of the 20th century, the town became a center for beach holidays. Tourism is the city's largest industry. In the 1940s, Morro Bay developed an abalone fishing industry, which lasted for around a two decades. And now, Morro Bay remains a fishing port for rockfish, halibut, and albacore; and, the city combines the fishing industry with coastal tourism, with its great restaurants, gift shops, national bird reservation, and wildlife refuge.
