As kids, we used to spend nearly all our summer holidays at our grandma’s house on the outskirts of the city. While Holidays are inevitably coming, many people are thinking about gifts for their friends and relatives. What is the best gift to give for holidays? Where to buy art? What is unique gift that my friend will cherish forever? Should I buy print, buy canvas, buy original art? All these questions are understandable when we face the fact that technology and high demands of the latest trends push people to spend money for something that most likely will be overcome in foreseeable future by other tech-toys. Artist Irina Sztukowski gives the tour into Poinsettia plant history and its Symbolic Meaning:
Poinsettias are beautiful plant that originally came from Mexico. They were named in honor of America’s first ambassador to Mexico, Joel Poinsett who brought the plants to America in 1828. Look carefully at this plant: what does it remind you? The Mexicans in the eighteenth century identified this plant with the religious symbol, the Star of Bethlehem. That is how the Poinsettia became associated with the Christmas season. The red that you see is not a flower itself. The actual flower of the poinsettia is in the middle; it is quite small and has almost not noticeable yellow drops of color. But look at the surrounding the flower leaves. They are large, and bright, and as the dress of the actor that gives us ability to perceive his role the poinsettia red leaves dress up the flowers giving them a new festive meaning.

Irina Sztukowski presents her inspiration after re-reading Wizard Of Oz story, the Red Poppies.
Red Poppies are common image that inspired a lot of artists. But did you know that there are hundreds of other uses of the Red Poppies?
Here are just a few of them (courtesy of Wiki):
Most species of poppies are attractive and are cultivated as ornamental plants.
Papaver somniferum poppy is so widely used in medicine.
Poppy seeds for use in cooking and baking, and poppyseed oil for culinary and other uses, and is also cultivated as an ornamental plant.
The California poppy, Eschscholzia californica, is the state flower of California.
In Mexico, Grupo Modelo, the makers of Corona beer, used red poppy flowers in most of its advertising images until the 1960s.
A poppy flower is depicted on the reverse of the Macedonian 500 denars banknote, issued in 1996 and 2003. The poppy is also part of the coat of arms of the...

The word ABSTRACT per some dictionaries is art that does not attempt to represent external, recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.
Irina Sztukowski's series Dancing Water breaks all the rules: here you can clearly see the water itself and a implication on a dancer's figure. Yet the painting is still Abstract as anyone can imagine the music behind it, the music of art, the sound of ocean.

Plein-Air (from French en plein air 'in the open air') helps to loosen the Artist's mind believes Irina Sztukowski, an award winning California artist. If her studio paintings reflect the academic , Old Masters, approach and take hours and hours for full completion; her plein-air paintings are fresh fast and remind us Impressionist's lovely art.
As the matter of fact, per Oxford Dictionaries online - Plein-air : denoting or in the manner of a 19th-century style of painting outdoors, or with a strong sense of the open air, that became a central feature of French Impressionism.

Irina Sztukowski never stops to explore. Irina Sztukowski was honored to illustrate a poem by an amazing author Carolyne Swayze:
Standing By The Sea
One day as I stood by the sea,
a sailing ship did sail towards me.
What beauty I thought,
what splendor, what grace,
when all at once my heart did race,
for as it neared, at a leisurely pace,
I saw a figure with my mother's face.
I called to her with all my might,
she turned and smiled, then sailed out of sight.
For one eternal moment I stood and stared,
before falling to my knees in motherless despair.
At just that moment I heard a sound,
through teary eyes, I looked around,
to see an Angel, hovering over the ground.
The Angel spoke in hallowed voice,
"Rejoice, dear child, for on this day
a trip to Glory is underway,
and when she reaches the arriving shore,
she'll greet loved ones gone on before.
So lament no more," the Angel scried,
"For God's Kingdom awaits her on...

When Irina Sztukowski started her Nursery Series with the few paintings that continued Peter Rabbit story she did not expect that a small paintings like that can make people so happy. A future happy mom work as a paramedic, and a proud dad is the firefighter. …or Flamenco?
Irina Sztukowski thinks that certain dances definitely apply to the questions above as well as certain colors.
For instance, Tango and Flamenco are just begging for Scarlet Red, Electric Yellow, and Burned Siena. One of the legends about the origins of Tango is that it came from Buenos Aires, Argentina; which at the end of the 19th century had quite a diverse place. A good mix of immigrants from Italy, Spain, Britain, Poland, Russia, Germany and other European countries brought their touch to the creation of this pulsating dance. Between 1910 – 1913, Tango was introduced to Paris and later spread across the Atlantic quickly becoming an international phenomena.
On another hand, Flamenco dance is pure Spanish and has a long history going back to 1700s. One legend states that it was named after a gracious bird flamingo. As that bird Flamenco resembles a beautiful dance of exotic creature. Different legend claims that Flamenco is the traditional...

Don't you think that each pear is different and each of them has its own personality?
Pears are one of the world's oldest cultivated and beloved fruits. In 5,000 B.C., Feng Li, a Chinese diplomat, abandoned his responsibilities when he became consumed by grafting peaches, almonds, persimmons, pears and apples as a commercial venture. In The Odyssey, the Greek poet laureate Homer lauds pears as a "gift of the gods." Pomona, goddess of fruit, was a cherished member of the Roman Pantheon and Roman farmers documented extensive pear growing and grafting techniques. Thanks to their versatility and long storage life, pears were a valuable and much-desired commodity among the trading routes of the ancient world. Evident in the works of Renaissance Masters, pears have long been an elegant still-life muse for artists. In the 17th century a great flourishing of modern pear variety cultivation began taking place in Europe. And in popular culture, the pear tree was immortalized alongside...

Throughout a time Dutch Still Life remains the most researched art for the symbolic meaning of different subjects. In this painting artist Irina Sztukowski reveals the meaning of the simple lemon:
• lemon is a symbol of luxury which alienates man from God
• a peeled lemon, as well as accompanying seafood was, like life, attractive to look at, but bitter to taste
• Lemon is linked in Christian tradition to fidelity and, therefore, to the figure of the Virgin. the lemon was an imported fruit, thus connoting luxury.
• lemon may be seen as a symbol of time passing
• Half-peeled Lemon stands for casual excess, and so serves as a call for moderation, warning that life is not only sweet, but sour as well.

Did you know that:
- Pearls will always stand for Beauty and Life, in this art work they symbolize how Rich Our Lives are.
- Sea Shell is the symbol of Pilgrimage and Travel - Aren't we all just Travelers in this World?
Those symbols of life come to us from Renaissance period and remain their meanings through the centuries.
