This (and your others similar to it) are lovely. Colors are gorgeous and lines/strokes are magical. I am a photographer, and while I like quirky subjects, I leave them pretty much as I shoot them. Digital art just doesn't seem to be my thing (for my own work). That said, I became interested in painting a few years ago and am enjoying it immensely. One of my first 'ah-HA' moments was that it wasn't GOING to look like a photograph, but I'm still struggling with that fact. Looking at your work helps me - because I look at it and find it beautiful - but not photographic. Does that make sense? Anyway - l/f and THANK YOU!!!
Irina Sztukowski replied:
It is great to hear Carol that you started experimenting. It is important when painting to step away from hyper realism sometimes. In order to do it, try to paint by covering large areas in one color first, then apply highlights and shades in fast fearless strokes. Stepping back (away) from painting or squinting the eyes can help to see larger shapes with less details. And this in exchange can help to paint more impressionistic style landscapes. Have a great day! Irina
